Bad news for happy couples: You are quite likely gaining weight. The research published by NCBI reveals an interesting conclusion – spouses who live in happy relationships tend to gain weight with time, as they start worrying less about the way they look.
Apparently, there are instances in which the human psychology works in a pretty simple pattern. We are programmed to attract a mate, and that seems to be our main reason for maintaining a healthy and pretty look! When we achieve that goal, the motivation for taking care of the body goes down.
Sadly, the high quality of a relationship does not always mean better health!
On the contrary, those who feel unsatisfied with marriage tend to be slimmer, end up in divorce, and get more concerned about their shapes.
In order not to neglect health in a happy marriage, here are a few tips you can follow with your beloved:
1. Be mindful about health. Start connecting your weight not only with outer beauty but with your body general well-being. Excessive weight is the key factor for cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and diabetes.
2. Challenge each other. Getting into physical activities may be hard, but it is much easier when you have a partner. Challenge each other in the gym, and set unofficial competitions between each other in weight loss. Lexi and Danny Reed, from Terre Haute, Indiana, are truly an inspirational example, as they went through a weight loss journey together.
